A thirteen part series about one young doctor’s personal mission across six continents to learn the ancient knowledge that will help combat the modern diseases afflicting her people.
Dr Daniele Behn - young, vivacious, talented and driven - is on a personal quest that will see her travel to the far-flung remote corners of the earth to learn the ancient secrets of the natural world and meet the healers and indigenous elders who keep these secrets.
This young Canadian First Nations doctor has a strong conviction that Western medicine and natural therapies can complement each other in a true holistic approach to the future of healing.
She is searching for natural healing substances and the wisdom, long thought forgotten, of shamans, medicine men and women, herbalists, yogis, folk healers and mystics.
It is also a race against time because many of the world’s plant species are being driven to extinction or near extinction, especially in the world’s forests.
Daniele’s own background has sparked in her an interest in and passion for the teachings and practices of other indigenous cultures around the world.
Her journeys take her from the fringes of the Arctic Circle to the ancient homelands of the Incas and Mayans, to lost valleys in Asia, South Pacific islands, the jungles of South America to the grasslands and deserts of Africa – indeed all points to the north, south, east and west on planet Earth.

Shot and finished on Hi Definition, the series will be directed by award winning Canadian First Nations director Shirley Cheechoo.
Visionquest owner and producer Norm Wilkinson says 'We are very lucky to have Shirley come on board this project as its director. She is a wonderful talent and was always my first choice for 'Medicine Woman'.
'I believe the partnership of Daniele and Shirley will produce moments of true television magic. It is something I am looking forward to seeing.'
